Did you know your skin is the largest organ in your body? It covers your entire body, weighing about 7.5 to 22 pounds. Your skin also serves as your first layer of protection against environmental pollution, toxins, and debris. In other words: your skin is important.

We’ve talked about our options for laser treatments at About Face Aesthetics, but now we think it’s time to focus on why your skin might need laser resurfacing in Philadelphia.

What Causes Skin Damage

There are several environmental issues and personal choices that can affect the quality and health of your skin.

UV Damage

UV radiation is the most common damage our team sees. While you can get UV radiation anywhere on your body, most of our clients receive laser skin resurfacing for the skin on their face. UV radiation breaks down the elastin fibers in your skin, causing wrinkles, liver spots, freckles, and, in worst-case scenarios, skin cancer.

Laser skin resurfacing uses laser light to remove the damaged cells caused by UV radiation, and then heats the deeper layers of the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production. This repairs the cellular structure of your skin, reversing wrinkles and creating a smoother, more even complexion.

Pollution

According to a 2020 study conducted by the American Lung Association, Philadelphia ranked as the 12th most polluted city in the nation for its year-round average levels of fine particle pollution and the 23rd most polluted for days with high levels of ozone smog.

That pollution does not just affect your lungs—it also affects your skin. According to the National Library of Medicine, your skin is one of the main targets of pollutants, which are able to reach the deeper layers of your skin by transcutaneous and systemic routes.

These pollutants are known to cause skin aging, as they remove moisture and nutrients from your skin and consistently expose it to toxins. This also causes inflammation, and, when exposed to pollution in high quantities for extended periods of time, could lead to the development of chronic skin diseases.

You can reverse the environmental impact on your skin with laser resurfacing. Philadelphia’s high pollution may damage the health of your skin, but laser skin resurfacing repairs your skin on a cellular level, increasing collagen and elastin production to create healthier, smoother skin overall.

Lifestyle

The issue that many of our clients overlook is how their lifestyle impacts their skin. Diet, exercise, and habits like smoking and drinking can all have an effect.

Smoking depletes your skin of the oxygen it needs to produce healthy skin cells, and alcohol dehydrates your body, depriving your skin of the water it needs. Meanwhile, an unbalanced diet and little to no exercise deprive your skin of the nutrients it needs for cellular regeneration.

While we always encourage you to improve your lifestyle at About Face, we can complement your life changes with laser resurfacing in Philadelphia. This will give your skin a fresh, new start, replacing old cells with new ones that you can properly care for by maintaining a healthy lifestyle and using skincare!

The simple answer is that at first blush, BBL and IPL are the same thing. They are both light technologies that address things like rosacea, age spots, and sun damage, and neither of them have much downtime at all. So, although on the surface level they do seem pretty similar there are just a few important differences we want to share with you.

At About Face we offer both BBL & IPL treatments, we’d love to explain the differences to help you determine which might be best for you.

BBL v IPL: It’s About Branding

BBL (Broad-Band Light) is the branded name of the Sciton device that uses photorejuvenation properties.

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is the Cynosure branded version of photofacial treatments.

(If you want to make it as confusing as humanly possible, OPL – for Optimized Pulsed Light – is the moniker given by laser-manufacturer Candela for their version of this treatment. Yup, we offer all three!)

Really, these are all the same kind of treatment just by different brands and we offer all of them. Here is why!

BBL v IPL:

If you have ever dealt with sun damage, color inconsistency, fine lines and other age spots then BBl might be the solution you want to choose! BBL Facials in Philadelphia are designed to be good on all skin types, treat most skin conditions, and have minimal downtime. Go more in-depth with these reasons down below!

One. Good for all skin types & skin conditions

BBL is a Sciton device, and Sciton is always working to make sure their laser and devices are good for every skin type.

If you have sun damage or age spots, then the light will address them because it targets unwanted pigmentation.

If you are worried about redness and rosacea, we can also take care of this. The BBL treatment will target the source of that problem, which is the blood vessels under the skin.

Two. Stimulates collagen production

Another big concern that is addressed by BBL facials in Philadelphia is that they can fix wrinkles, fine lines, and texture issues.

Three. Quick & no downtime

Your BBL facial appointment in Philadelphia should only take about 30-minutes, letting you get back to your day. Even though there is no downtime, you might see some temporary irritation on your face from the device used.

While you shouldn’t experience any sort of pain, extreme redness, or swelling, you will still have some pink-y skin for a day or two and heightened sun sensitivity. Here are some things to keep in mind after your procedure…

  • Apply sunscreen multiple times throughout the day
  • Use a gentle face cleanser
  • Moisturize to relieve dryness and tightness
  • Avoid direct sun exposure for a week afterwards
  • Don’t do exfoliation or facial hair removal treatments for a week

Interested in a BBL facial in Philadelphia? Set up a consultation with our experts!

Give us a call or send us a message if you’d like to know more about our BBL facial in Philly. We’d love to hear from you!

The combination of relentless sunshine and sweltering temperatures during the Summer months have inevitably taken a toll on your skin.

No matter how much sunscreen, moisturizer, or exfoliant we use, the sun and heat have an insidious way of getting to our skin anyway, making it dry, hyperpigmented, and uneven in texture.

The Science of Summer

The sun is extremely powerful and the longer we are exposed to the sun’s rays, the more damage it canl do. This is why sunscreen is so imperative because the UV rays coming from the sun creates cumulative damage to your skin.

Here are some of the things that can happen.

Aging & Dryness

Faster aging from  time in the sun happens because the UV rays speed-up the degradation of your precious collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin are imperative to skin health and appearance because together they give your skin support and keep it smooth.

When your skin is exposed to the sun without the protection of sunscreen, premature aging is bound to occur. What does premature aging look like? Most of the time it is fine lines and wrinkles, but it can also be sagging skin, rough leathery texture, and lots of pigmentation.

Skin Cancer

UV rays cause changes in our skin, and can actually alter the skin’s DNA causing skin cancer.

Yikes, right?! About Face not only provides some fantastic sunscreens and antioxidants, it also offers solutions once you have crossed into the world of sun damage.

Why You Should Address It Now, Not Later

It is much more challenging to eliminate the culmination of year’s worth of sun damage compared to consistently addressing it each year. We have found that it is easier and more practical to get treatment as needed instead of a big, super aggressive treatment once you really need it. (Sometimes the sun damage can be so advanced it’s impossible to reverse it.) To maintain and protect your skin’s vitality, stay on the lookout for signs of sun damage to catch it before too much damage is done!

Our About Face experts are available for consultations to review the best treatment options for your unique situation. By meeting with them, we can work together to devise a treatment plan that is tailored to your specific wants and needs when it comes to sun damage.

PhotoRejuvenation in Philly

Photorejuvenation uses a combination of laser and light to deliberately create small, microscopic wounds on the skin’s surface, which in turn triggers the production of fresh skin cells.

This is centered around areas that are damaged, scarred, or wrinkled. When new cell-growth is encouraged in these areas, they give your skin a fresh start; making it look younger, fresher, and rejuvenated–aka, photo-rejuvenation.

BBL Photofacial

If you’re seeking a remedy for tired, splotchy, blotchy, or uneven skin tone, BBL could be the answer you’ve been searching for! Broadband light (BBL) is a slightly different version of intense pulsed light (IPL), another effective aesthetic tool.

By harnessing the power of light energy, this treatment works to penetrate your skin and activate the cells, ultimately providing your skin a more youthful, even-textured and toned appearance.

In order to ensure the best recommendation for a sun damage treatment or BBL photofacial in Philadelphia, we always recommend having an in-person consultation to review your specific concerns and conduct a thorough examination of your skin.

IPL PhotoRejuvenation

Photorejuvenation works by exposing damaged skin to a form of carefully controlled, intense pulsed light. This light stimulates the production of collagen and elastin fibers, which reduces fine lines and wrinkles, brown spots and freckles.

If you decide to have an IPL treatment done in Philadelphia, you can expect to experience smoother skin texture and a more uniform skin tone.

Patients often describe the treatment as a sensation akin to the repeated snapping of rubber bands against the skin. While the treatment itself is not painful, the sensation can be quite surprising.

Our advice to patients is to take Aleve, or a similar over-the-counter anti-inflammatory, one hour before their treatment as a preemptive measure to alleviate any potential discomfort that may arise.

The Difference Between BBL & IPL

The Sciton device, known by its branded name BBL, utilizes photorejuvenation to provide its beneficial effects. IPL, which stands for Intense Pulsed Light, is the Cynosure branded version of photofacial treatments. The treatments may vary in terms of the brand they come from, but they are essentially the same in terms of their effects.

Although many med spas may choose to offer just one of these options, we stand out by providing both of them.

Why We Offer Both

BBL has a deeper reach when it comes to treating the skin because of it’s laser components. IPL is better for treating surface level concerns, so the investment matches your results!

When it comes to creating treatment plans for patients, we like to have a variety of effective options to choose from (which is also why we offer multiple financing options.)

Laser resurfacing is an extremely popular category of treatment for reducing the appearance of blemishes like acne scars. Like the name would suggest, laser resurfacing involves using a laser device to essentially redo the surface of your skin by removing the outermost layer in its entirety or in portions.

By removing or opening up microchannels in the outer layer of skin, our expert providers are able to improve the appearance of scars. At About Face Aesthetics, we offer laser scar removal in Philadelphia to eliminate the dead and damaged tissue hanging out at the surface, stimulate the production of new collagen, and accelerate cell turnover.

Not all laser devices work the same, but some of our most popular devices for acne scar removal are Clear + Brilliant and Fraxel. These treatments can be used to minimize acne scars on all areas of the face, including cheeks, forehead and temples, and chin.

As with all scar-related concerns, the treatments needed for temple and forehead acne scars in Philadelphia will vary from client to client. There is no blanket solution for all kinds of acne scars that will work for all clients.

There are so many factors to consider when it comes to acne scar removal. What kind of scars are we dealing with? Are they textured divots or raised keloids? Are they actual scars, or are they flat areas of pigmentation leftover from a breakout?

The answers to these questions (and more) will largely determine the trajectory of your treatment journey.

Our Approach

At About Face Aesthetics, we generally treat the whole face when addressing acne scars. That way, you can enjoy consistently smooth, even-textured skin on your entire face. But when we get to the temples and forehead, we may have to adjust device settings and modalities.

One factor that can make treating temple and forehead acne scars different from other areas is your skull. Unlike your cheeks and chin area, there’s very little tissue between your frontal bone and the outside world.

Because of this, we may have to take a different approach. For instance, we can’t use certain injectable treatments like SKINVIVE for temple and forehead acne scars. This is simply because we can’t penetrate the skin on your forehead or temples as deeply.

Fortunately, versatile treatments like laser RF microneedling, laser resurfacing, and topical skincare products like Alastin A-Luminate Brightening Serum (for hyperpigmentation) can still be used on these areas with tremendous results.

Whether it’s microneedling, topicals, laser scar removal, or a combination of our cutting-edge treatments, the About Face team is sure to find a solution to help you reach your full potential in skin health, beauty, and confidence.

Your skin is really good at healing itself, but the healing process doesn’t always go as smoothly as one would hope. This can be especially true when it comes to acne. Sometimes pimples come and go with little fuss, and sometimes a pimple can leave a lasting scar.

Not only can acne scars disrupt the texture of your skin, but they can be a major source of insecurity. If you’re feeling self-conscious about acne scars, you’re not alone. Scarring caused by acne is incredibly common and can take many different forms.

While not all acne scars can be completely removed, they are highly treatable. If you’re looking for acne scar removal in Philadelphia, About Face Aesthetics is here to help. We offer a wide range of customizable treatments for reducing and improving the appearance of both scarring and hyperpigmentation caused by acne.

The Treatment Process

Acne scar removal in Philadelphia is a highly individualized process, and no single aesthetic treatment can be used with across-the-board success. Finding the right treatment for your acne scars takes skill and expertise. In other words, you’ll need a professional to create an in-depth treatment and support plan for achieving lasting results.

At About Face Aesthetics, our skin care experts provide acne scar removal in Philadelphia to minimize the appearance of divots, pockmarks, bumps, and hyperpigmentation. But acne scar removal isn’t just about what we get rid of. What you get back is every bit as important—your confidence.

What Are Acne Scars?

Acne scars can often seem like the angry ghosts of pimples past. But there’s a little bit more to them than that. According to the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, acne scars are “usually the result of inflamed blemishes caused by skin pores engorged with excess oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria.”

In simpler terms—before they became scars, these skin blemishes were once pimples or cysts. Whether or not scars form, and how they appear, depends on many factors. Some of these factors include:

  • Depth and size of the pimple or cyst
  • Whether or not you popped it or picked at it
  • Genetics

Scars vs. Hyperpigmentation

One distinction we should make early on is the distinction between acne scars and hyperpigmentation caused by acne. Hyperpigmentation is flat, while acne scars are either raised (hypertrophic) or pitted (depressed).

The distinction between scarring and hyperpigmentation isn’t trivial, as they often require different treatments and approaches. Excess pigment caused by a pimple is typically easier to fade than textured scarring.

Acne scars vary widely in size, severity, depth, coloration, and distribution. For some of our clients at About Face Aesthetics, acne scars are the primary concern that brought them through our doors. And for others, acne scar removal is more of a secondary concern. The appearance and severity of acne scars (not to mention the degree of emotional distress they cause) are different for everyone.

Treatment Approaches for Acne Scars

Woman talking to an About Face provider at her consultation

Your specific course of treatment will depend on the type of scars you have. Deep pockmarks are nearly impossible to completely get rid of, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they can’t be improved or minimized.

Ultimately, our experts will need to see the scars in person before they can determine the best treatment options and build a treatment plan to set you up for success.

Treatments for Acne Scar Removal in Philadelphia

The process for acne scar removal in Philadelphia doesn’t always end with total elimination of the scar, but you can always count on your About Face provider to take every possible step to minimize your scars as much as possible.

As you read through the following treatments, keep in mind that some of them might not work for you. You also don’t have to worry about picking the right one for you. You can leave it to us to recommend the ideal treatment for you.

Some of the many factors that go into determining the best treatment options include:

  • Type of scar (or pigmentation)
  • Severity
  • Specific location of scarring (cheeks, forehead, temples, chin, etc.)
  • Ethnicity (some ethnicities are more prone to developing deep pockmarks)
  • Skin tone
  • Skin type
  • Budget (how much you’re able to spend on acne scar removal in Philadelphia)
  • Downtime (how much downtime you can afford to take)

Let’s explore some of your treatment options!

Morpheus8 Microneedling

A woman gets a Morpheus8 RF microneedling treatment on her face

Morpheus8 is one of our most popular treatments for resolving issues with skin texture and for acne scar removal in Philadelphia.

Microneedling devices use tiny needles to create a series of controlled micro-injuries. What this does is trick your body into responding as though your skin was injured without inflicting serious damage.

In essence, the device causes micro-wounds that stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin production is essential for maintaining smooth, firm, and healthy-looking skin.

Morpheus8 takes microneedling a step further by boosting its effectiveness with RF (radiofrequency) energy. Regular microneedling devices are mostly limited to stimulating a robust healing response in the layers of skin reached by the needles. But Morpheus8 uses RF energy to target even deeper tissue than the needles can penetrate.

Morpheus8 can be extremely effective in minimizing the appearance of acne scars by stimulating collagen production and promoting skin cell turnover.

Laser Resurfacing

A client gets a laser resurfacing treatment at About Face Aesthetics

For clients who can afford to take a bit more downtime, laser resurfacing can improve the appearance of acne scars by vaporizing the outer layer of dead and damaged skin (or portions of it). As a result, younger and healthier skin cells are revealed underneath, and your body ramps up its collagen production as you heal.

Laser scar removal is a popular treatment for acne scars, but, depending on the device and settings, it can require some downtime. Some of our top laser resurfacing devices for acne scar removal in Philadelphia are Clear + Brilliant and Fraxel. Not only are these some of our most effective laser devices for acne scars, they’re also some of the most gentle.

SKINVIVE

SKINVIVE by Juvéderm is an injectable that takes a much different approach to minimizing the appearance of mild to moderate depressed acne scars. Instead of removing layers of skin or stimulating a healing response, SKINVIVE works by giving the treated skin a plumper appearance, and is thus used to even out skin texture.

This can be especially helpful when dealing with textural divots and when you want to enhance the overall hydration, volume, and appearance of your skin.

Chemical Peel

A client gets a chemical peel at About Face Aesthetics

Like laser resurfacing, chemical peels can minimize acne scarring by removing the outermost layers of mostly dead and damaged skin cells. But unlike laser resurfacing, chemical peels don’t cause any thermal damage.

Chemical peels use concentrated ingredients like lactic acid, salicylic acid, trichloroacetic acid (TCA), retinoic acid, and vitamin C to cause that outer layer of skin to peel or flake away, revealing more youthful and less damaged skin underneath.

At About Face Aesthetics, we offer a large selection of chemical peels of varying depths and ingredients in order to better care for the diverse needs of our clients. Your experienced provider will determine the best chemical peel for you by assessing your skin and talking to you about your goals, desired timeframe, and the amount of downtime you can afford to take off.

In general, the lighter the peel, the less downtime. While less downtime is always a plus, lighter peels may deliver more subtle results than a medium or deep peel, which requires more extensive downtime for recovery and results to develop.

IPL

A woman gets an IPL treatment in Philadelphia at About Face Aesthetics

IPL (intense pulsed light) therapy is best suited for treating post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, but it can also be used to improve the overall appearance of skin and acne scars by stimulating collagen production.

Rather than removing the outer layer of skin like laser resurfacing, IPL treatments reduce excess pigment by targeting the pigment and pigment-producing cells directly without causing the amount of damage typically associated with laser resurfacing.

Exosomes

Exosomes are one of the most scientifically advanced skin treatments in existence, and they’re available at About Face Aesthetics. We offer exosome treatments (often in conjunction with other treatments) to stimulate collagen and elastin production at a cellular level.

Exosome therapy can improve the appearance of hyperpigmentation and acne scars, as well as the overall appearance of your skin, by boosting your body’s natural processes for cell repair.

Skincare Products

We offer an assortment of skincare products to help enhance and support your results for acne scar removal in Philadelphia. Your provider will need to assess your skin in person to be able to recommend a suitable product for your needs and goals.

That being said, Alastin A-Luminate Brightening Serum can often help reduce and prevent hyperpigmentation caused by acne.

Can Acne Scars Be Prevented?

Not all acne scars can be prevented, and neither can all forms of acne. But there are ways to minimize your chances of developing them. To help prevent acne and reduce the likelihood of scarring, we recommend:

  • Using mineral-based makeup
  • Not squeezing or popping pimples
  • Cleansing your skin twice daily to prevent acne and promote healing

The About Face Guide to All Things Anti-Aging in Philadelphia

Anti-aging secrets are all the rage, and they’ve been raging for ages. Though people’s approaches to skin rejuvenation have evolved over time, our interest in looking youthful isn’t new. Countless innovations have emerged from the aesthetics industry in the last few decades, and there are now more options than ever for minimizing the telltale signs of aging.

At About Face Aesthetics, we pride ourselves on our cutting-edge treatments and on creating an unparalleled experience for each of our clients. But why do we do what we do? Why should you get anti-aging treatments?

Anti-Aging: The What & Why

Let’s get a few things straight. Just because we offer a range of “anti-aging” treatments and skincare products does not mean that we are anti aging. Aging will continue to happen, whether we’re for or against it.

Aging is not something to be afraid or ashamed of. At About Face Aesthetics, we see aging as something to be embraced and celebrated. So, what do we mean by “anti-aging?”

Getting older is inevitable, but that doesn’t mean you can’t look your best. What that looks like will change with every season of life, but we believe in living your life to the fullest in every season.

Wrinkles can be minimized, sagging skin can be tightened, and volume can be restored. Reducing these unavoidable signs of aging is about more than looking years younger. It’s about rebuilding confidence and enhancing your natural beauty—refining, not changing, your favorite, most recognizable features.

Anti-Aging Treatments

Treatments geared toward anti-aging won’t roll back the clock, but they can empower you to live your best life by looking and feeling your best.

Injectables

Injectables are a category of aesthetic treatments that are injected into the body. They’re often able to target certain issues more precisely and effectively than topical treatments alone.

Neuromodulators

Neuromodulators, as you may know, is basically just a fancy name for injectables that relax muscles. That’s right, muscles. The key to smoothing dynamic wrinkles (wrinkles caused by facial movements and expressions) is treating the muscles beneath your skin. They can even be used to prevent wrinkles from developing or worsening.

Most neuromodulators, such as Botox and Dysport, use the same active ingredient—botulinum toxin A. But don’t let the name scare you. Botox and Dysport are prepared in full compliance with FDA standards and are proven safe and effective for treating fine lines and wrinkles.

What these anti-aging wrinkle injections do is temporarily relax facial muscles by blocking neural signals telling them to contract. This brings up the common question, “Will my face look frozen?” The good news is that, when administered correctly by licensed injectors, these treatments deliver results that look natural without making your face look stiff or “frozen.”

You’d be hard-pressed to find someone who hasn’t heard of Botox, and it’s for good reason. Botox Cosmetic is one of the best known and most loved antiwrinkle treatments of all time. Few aesthetic treatments have earned such a stellar reputation with such a wide audience. It truly is a household name.

Dysport, too, has risen to stardom as powerhouse wrinkle treatment. While it uses the same active ingredient as Botox, the two treatments aren’t identical. Where Botox is better suited for treating deeper wrinkles, the consistency of Dysport allows it to spread more easily and treat larger areas.

Dermal Fillers

Some features lose their fullness as the years go by, but volume and plumpness can be restored. Dermal fillers are a hugely popular cosmetic injectable for treating:

  • Lost volume
  • Wrinkles
  • Skin folds
  • Thin lips
  • Depressed or sagging cheekbones
  • Nasolabial folds (smile lines)
  • Vertical lip lines

At About Face Aesthetics, our highly skilled, licensed injectors are well-versed in the transformative uses of filler for anti-aging in Philadelphia.

Most of the dermal fillers we use are hyaluronic acid-based fillers that are injected into areas like the lips, face, neck, and hands. They volumize and plump up the treatment areas by filling out your skin with a gel-like substance. This substance goes on to stimulate collagen production and improve skin hydration.

Kybella

With age comes skin sagging, and sagging skin can cause your submental fat (the fat under your chin) to bulge, leading to the dreaded double chin. A common misconception about submental fat is that it only affects people who are overweight.

Kybella for anti-aging in Philadelphia.

Not true. People at or even below their optimal weight can still develop a double chin, and this pocket of unwanted fat is notoriously resistant to dieting and exercise. But that doesn’t mean there’s nothing you can do about it.

Kybella injections permanently destroy fat cells using a synthetic version of the acid (deoxycholic acid) your body uses to help you digest fat. While eliminating submental fat is one of its most popular uses, Kybella can also be used to slim down other areas, including:

  • Neck
  • Knees
  • Back bulge
  • Bra/underarm fat
  • Belly
  • Love handles
  • “Banana roll” under the butt
Aquagold

Our treatments for anti-aging in Philadelphia can all be fine-tuned to your unique needs and goals, but Aquagold takes customizability to another level. The Aquagold microchanneling device is one of the most effective ways to infuse your skin with a custom cocktail of anti-aging goodness.

The device uses tiny needles coated with 24-karat gold to deliver rejuvenating and nourishing microinjections directly into the skin, but it doesn’t stop there. Like microneedling, Aquagold creates a pattern of microinjuries that stimulate a powerful healing response by tricking your body into thinking it’s wounded. This causes your body to produce more collagen and elastin, the building blocks of smoother, firmer, and tighter skin.

Aquagold’s versatility makes it an excellent option for treating:

  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Skin laxity (loose skin)
  • Lost facial volume
  • Acne scarring

Lasers & Light

Age-related skin concerns like wrinkles, age spots, and loose skin can also be treated by harnessing the power of light. Laser resurfacing can rejuvenate your face by removing the outermost layer of dead and damaged skin. Not only does it reveal softer, newer skin underneath, it also promotes the generation of new cells and sends your collagen production into hyperdrive.

At About Face Aesthetics, we use the most advanced technologies and techniques for anti-aging in Philadelphia. Some of the laser resurfacing devices we use include:

In addition to laser resurfacing, we also offer BBL photofacials for erasing signs of sun damage such as age spots, melasma, hyperpigmentation, rosacea, and fine lines. The BBL device uses light to break down excess pigment in skin and to stimulate collagen production for firmer, smoother skin.

Speaking of collagen production, another powerful light-based skin correction tool is IPL. Our toolkit for anti-aging in Philadelphia wouldn’t be complete without the photorejuvenating wonders of intense pulsed light. Like BBL, IPL treatments can also reduce signs of sun damage while also improving the overall texture of your skin.

Skin Tightening

Gradual skin thinning and loosening is a normal part of aging, but it can be a major blow to your self-esteem. As collagen breaks down and your body makes less and less new collagen, your skin loses its youthful firmness and elasticity. While it’s certainly nothing to be ashamed of, it’s also not entirely outside your control.

About Face Aesthetics offers skin tightening treatments that can take years off your appearance. For giving your skin and your confidence a lift, we use Thermage, SculpSure, and Morpheus8 RF microneedling.

Microneedling for anti-aging in Philadelphia.

Thermage uses RF (radiofrequency) to tighten and contour your skin, SculpSure uses targeted laser energy to tighten skin and reduce fat, and Morpheus8 RF microneedling restructures and tightens up your skin by combining microneedling with radiofrequency heating.

Facial Services

Getting treatments for anti-aging in Philadelphia is a personal journey that demands personalization. Our team of experts at About Face Aesthetics is committed to tailoring your treatment plan to your needs and goals. For us, it’s not about selling treatments; it’s about getting you results and supporting you on your journey to healthier, more functional skin.

For a gentle pampering experience made for you, we offer custom, medical-grade facials. Whether it’s to supplement the results of a more advanced anti-aging treatment or just to refresh your skin, we can craft the relaxing, cleansing, hydrating, and rejuvenating experience you deserve.

From the masque to the peel to the massaging cleanse, every step is geared towards your skin—improving brightness and reducing the appearance of fine lines, enlarged pores, and discoloration.

Other facial services we provide include a wide variety of chemical peels for revealing the younger-looking skin beneath the layers of dead and damaged cells. Another way to gently remove dead and damaged skin cells is through an exfoliating DiamondGlow treatment.

This glamorous facial uses the device’s diamond tip to exfoliate and powerful suction to remove dead skin, impurities, and debris. By infusing your skin with what it needs and removing what it doesn’t, DiamondGlow can get you the glow up you deserve.

By now, you’ve probably noticed a bit of a pattern when it comes to anti-aging in Philadelphia: collagen is your skin’s best friend. Well, what if we told you there was a way to take the collagen and elastin-boosting effects of your skin treatment even further?

At About Face Aesthetics, we offer exosome treatments to do just that. Exosome therapy stimulates collagen and elastin production at a cellular level. As a result, this living treatment can bring new and improved life to your skin. The benefits of exosome therapy include a range of anti-aging effects, such as skin tightening and reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and skin discoloration.

The Anti-Aging Lifestyle

The anti-aging treatments available to you at About Face Aesthetics can deliver transformative results, but we’d be doing you a major disservice if we didn’t mention the role you play in your journey to healthier, more youthful skin.

For the best possible outcomes, you’ll need to do a bit more than scheduling periodic anti-aging treatments. Some people go to med spas with the expectation of having all of their skin needs met. Some med spas may even play into this misunderstanding. But we’re more than just a med spa in Philadelphia. The way we see it, the education and support we provide for your at-home skincare routine is just as important as the treatments we offer.

Think of us like a dentist—taking care of your teeth requires more than annual or biannual dentist appointments. Neither you nor your dentist would be happy if you only went to your appointments and called it good. You’ve got to brush your teeth, floss, and be mindful that what you eat and drink can affect your pearly whites.

Similarly, there are things you can do (and not do) every day to support the health of your skin and extend the duration of your treatment results. For starters, your skincare routine is no less important than your dental hygiene.

At About Face Aesthetics, we take a customized approach to skin care by helping you build your routine with the right skincare products for your skin. Don’t let cleansing and moisturizing (twice daily) go the way of flossing—becoming that thing you spend more time thinking about doing than actually doing. Like brushing your teeth and flossing, your skincare routine is about seeing and feeling the difference.

Two team members discuss anti-aging in Philadelphia.

As much as we all love having fun in the sun, not to mention sporting a magazine-worthy tan, excessive sun exposure can accelerate skin aging and seriously interfere with your treatment results. Daily sunscreen and limiting your exposure to direct sunlight are absolute musts.

Lastly, one of the best things you can do for yourself and your skin is to stop smoking. Everybody knows smoking isn’t good for your overall health, but not everyone is aware of just how counterproductive it is to invest in treatments for anti-aging in Philadelphia without kicking the habit.

As your go-to med spa, we’ll always provide you with the best possible treatments for achieving your goals, but what you do and don’t do for yourself between visits can make the difference in achieving your best possible results.

Ready to Get Started With Anti-Aging in Philadelphia?

If you’re looking for an average, run-of-the-mill med spa, we can make some recommendations, but that’s about it. At About Face Aesthetics, we’re all about providing a personalized, one-of-a-kind experience.

When the best care meets the most effective and advanced aesthetic technology, you know you’re in for a transformative treat. You deserve nothing less than the best and shouldn’t have to settle for anything but the latest and greatest.

Exceeding your expectations is always our goal. No matter your age, gender, skin tone, and body type, we want you to be happy with your results, and most importantly, we want you to be happy with yourself.

Give us a call or send us a message if you’re ready to book an appointment or if you’d like to know more about anti-aging in Philadelphia. We’d love to hear from you!

Congratulations! Your search for “wrinkle treatments near me” has brought you here. We know you may be shopping around, but while you’re here, how about a quick tour of some of your options at About Face Aesthetics?

Here They Are, Those “Wrinkle Treatments Near Me”

Injectables

First off, we have an assortment of injectables for smoothing out those lines. Botox and Dysport are some of our most popular wrinkle treatments, and they work best for treating dynamic wrinkles (wrinkles caused by facial movements and expressions). Instead of treating wrinkles at the skin level, these treatments, known as neuromodulators, work by relaxing the muscles under the wrinkles. And they aren’t only for fully developed wrinkles; they can also be used preventatively.

Fillers are a first line of defense against volume loss, but they can also be used to treat deeper wrinkles. Some wrinkles and skin folds are caused or worsened by a loss of volume or a decrease in skin elasticity. Dermal fillers can help smooth your skin by filling in the “hollow” areas beneath the wrinkles and by stimulating collagen production. At your go-to medical spa in Center City, we offer several different fillers, including:

Lasers

Laser resurfacing can be extremely effective for anti-aging and overall skin rejuvenation. We use laser systems including Fraxel, CoolPeel, CO2 Deka, and Clear + Brilliant Touch to remove the dead and damaged skin hanging out on the surface and to stimulate your body to produce new collagen and new skin cells.

Chemical Peels

Our medical-grade chemical peels are another great option for achieving smoother, brighter, and younger-looking skin. The degree of friction-free exfoliation depends on the type and depth of the chemical peel being applied. Chemical peels are typically divided by depth: light, medium, and deep. The greater the depth, the more dramatic the results and the more downtime needed after treatment.

RF Microneedling

For fine lines and mild wrinkles, RF microneedling can be just the thing for tightening up wrinkled skin, especially around your eyes and mouth.

At About Face Aesthetics, we use the Morpheus8 and Vivace devices to restructure skin tissue and turbocharge collagen and elastin production. RF microneedling can be paired with exosome therapy for even greater skin rejuvenation.

Now that You’ve Found “Wrinkle Treatments Near Me,” Are You Ready to Get Started?

If you’re looking for an average, run-of-the-mill med spa, we can make some recommendations, but that’s about it. At About Face Aesthetics, we’re all about providing a personalized, one-of-a-kind experience.

Give us a call or send us a message if you’re ready to book your consultation or if you’d like to know more about those “wrinkle treatments near me.” We’d love to hear from you!
